Prevention professionals from the Potomac Highlands Guild and the Berkeley County Recovery Resource Center Prevention Program were the first in the nation to become trained to implement the new Vaping Prevention Plus Wellness Program to youth.
These innovative substance abuse prevention leaders plan to provide the Vaping Prevention Plus Wellness Program to elementary, middle and high school youth in all eight counties of the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia.
E-cigarette use among youth in the US has increased nearly 80% in the last year.
Unfortunately, vaping e-cigarettes increases risk for using cigarettes, alcohol and illicit drugs, nicotine addiction, and harm to developing youth brains and bodies.
Those participating in the 5-hour live online training workshop to become certified program implementers included Dr. Raj Masih, Roger Dodd, Jeanie Hawk, Kevin Knowles, Paige Mathias and Stephanie Stout.
We salute these behavioral health leaders for bringing an evidence-informed program to their region to address the nation’s quickly growing epidemic of youth e-cigarette use.
