Meaningful Activities Influence the Recovery Process

Meaningful Activities Influence the Recovery Process

Dear friends,

Here is new research on how meaningful activities influence those recovering from substance abuse and mental health disorders.

The results of this qualitative study found that meaningful activities are a cornerstone in the recovery process.

They vary widely and largely involve social aspects or contexts, indicating the importance of social interaction in recovery.

In addition, experiencing meaningful activities builds recovery capital and creates recovery-promotive identities.

Therefore, whole-heartedly engaging in meaningful activities is likely to increase positive identity and enhance self-worth.

Whereas, idleness, isolation and over emphasizing obstacles can impede progress on the road to recovery.

If you’ve experienced an activity that was particularly meaningful in your recovery, please share it with us.

Thank you.
