Prevention Plus Wellness Programs Promote Youth Mental Health

Substance use prevention programs that promote healthy lifestyle behaviors such as physical activity, healthy nutrition, sleep and stress relaxation are likely to increase mental wellbeing and prevent mental health problems such as depression and anxiety among youth and young adults.

We reviewed recent evidence examining associations among healthy behaviors and mental health among young people and conducted analyses of the relationship between healthy habits and indicators of mental problems among US adolescents.

The findings from this review of research was presented in a webinar titled: Addressing Wellness into Substance Use Prevention Promotes Youth Mental Health.
